56 not out – still going strong
At the February meeting of Lodge of Science, Chris Avery was due to presented with his 50th Certificate. On researching for this, it was confirmed that Chris was initiated into Lapis Magnes Lodge in 1970. So 2026 actually marks his 56th year as a Freemason.
The PGM was on hand to present Chris with a specially commissioned 56th certificate (something of a rarity Ed! Can any of our readers confirm if it is one of a kind?). Ray, who has known Chris for many years, delivered an interesting and heartfelt biography on Chris, recounting some lovely stories of their respective journeys in Freemasonry.
The evening finished with a delicious roast beef at the Festive Board and the traditional, and very rousing, rendition of the Visitors song – Wincanton Workings version – a spectacle every Brother should aim to experience at least once in their Masonic career.
